In addition to attending the meeting, they also had a multi-city educational tour, aimed to increase awareness of allergy and immunology in India. They attended symposia at KEM Hospital in Bombay, in Rachi, Jharkhand and in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. In addition to raising awareness, the attendees generated discussion regarding the efficacy and availability of emerging asthma and allergy medications. They also strove to create connections between AAAII, the Indian College of Allergy and Immunology and the College.

As India becomes more industrialized, asthma and atopic diseases are significantly on the rise. Currently, millions of patients are suffering from atopic diseases in India, and there is still no formal postgraduate training course in allergy and immunology.

With support from the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin and AAAII, the attendees have been working with the Medical Council of India for the last few years to start an allergy and immunology Fellowship in India. Recently, The Medical Council of India (a regulatory body like ACGME) gave approval to start a program.
