The Advocacy Council has been exceedingly busy in the first quarter of 2023. In our advocacy efforts, we’ve worked independently and with like-minded medical coalitions on important issues that affect allergy practices. Here are some highlights:
- Urged Congressional action for anannual inflation-based physician payment updatebased on the full Medicare Economic Index.
- SupportedPrior Authorization reform.
- Recommended that CMS develop alternative payment models with realistic and attainable incentives.
- Supported increased funding forantimicrobial resistance research.
- Submitted comments on the Allergy/Immunology Specialty Measures set and theMVP Pulmonary Measure.
- Submitted comments on the FDA notice regarding front-of-the package labels, raising concerns about the use of “non-dairy” and “dairy free” labels that can be misleading for milk allergy patients.

- Supported a request to Congress for increasedfood allergy researchfunding in fiscal year 2024.

- Responded to HHS’ request for information on theHealthcare Workforce.
- Submitted comments along with AAAAI expressing concern overFDA safety labeling changes for food allergen extracts.
- Supported the AMA’s Physician Practice Information Survey.This AMA initiative will launch in June and is fully supported by the College. It is essential that College members participate. The practice-cost data collected will be used to advocate in support of physicians to accurately represent your practice, patients, and profession.
