Happy New Year from the editorial team and staff atAnnals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology! The focus ofthis month’s issueis on eosinophilic disorders, and the cover image really is worth a million words (so, if you haven’t looked at it, I strongly encourage it!). Two perspectives will explore how you can best manage eosinophilic esophagitis (EOE), including how to move beyond just the eosinophil count. Our CME review explores the current state of biologics in the treatment of EOE, and another review looks at the use of biologics more broadly in all eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders. A further review explains the pathophysiology of EOE. These reviews and perspectives, written by leaders in the field, provide a primer on how to think about and treat eosinophilic disorders, so that you can provide the best possible care to your patients.
New toAnnalsthis month is the addition of educational content to the humorous Marginal Zone. Dr. Erin Reigh, the allergist-illustrator of the Marginal Zone, calls these figure legends a “cartootorial,” and this month she provides a funny visualization of the potential role of Calpain-14 in the pathogenesis of EOE. I hope you enjoy the addition of some targeted learning while having a quick chuckle!
