Allergist David Stukus, MD: I love when patients and families come to me with information they find online. Whether it’s social media, through Internet searches or some media headlines that they read about.

Unfortunately, not all the information we read on the Internet is actually true, believe it or not. There’s a lot of misinformation and misconceptions surrounding allergies, so I always recommend that you need to vet your sources. You can use trusted professional organizations like the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, which has a robust library of information.

You can talk to your personal doctor and before anything, before you share information, or really think about how this applies to your own health or more importantly, before you make decisions regarding your own health, please talk to your personal doctor and see if that information applies to you.
